Polishing translations

Many web publishers with web sites in languages other than English need to provide good, readable translations for their customers. A good translator will usually provide you with readable copy of a standard that is acceptable to English speaking audiences. However, translations are sometimes prepared by writers whose command of spoken English is good, but whose written English is poor.

Web content must be of a high standard if readers are to trust the information presented

Web sites have long suffered from a credibility gap. Compare the stories you read in the newspaper with those you might read on a web page. Newspapers are regarded as a generally reliable source (with a few notable exceptions) but web content is subject to a different level of scrutiny. If the page is well designed and the content carefully crafted you may find little difference, but web content that is poorly written and badly edited is liable to be dismissed by astute readers. And badly translated text leaves your customers wondering where else you might fall short.

If you have content that has been translated into English you will need to make sure it is of a standard acceptable to English readers.
